More about the Montaigne Project

Hi everyone

My intention is to post, nearly everyday, one of Montaigne's essays. I will go through his three books in order (yes, I know they get much longer!) and be extremely loyal to his own words. Nevertheless, as you can see, my interpretation is concise and easy to understand.

I am using both the French and the English versions of Montaigne's essays in order to do this. I think one of the reasons that people find Montaigne difficult to digest in English is that the translation, at least the Gutenburg version that I am using, is far from straightforward. By using both versions, I hope to provide the clearest interpretation possible.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate. I'm brand new to the blogging world so your patience is appreciated!

  2. I have been reading Eric Hoffer and he was very fond of Montaigne, so I decided to investigate the essays. They are hard for me to read, but your versions are quite clear and valuable, thank you.

  3. Just ran across your blog. What ambitious project! the site looks dated, but I'm curious what you learned doing this.
